I had a lovely stay at the White Swan! The staff were super welcoming, and the Scottish breakfast was a standout—haggis and all. Just a heads up, some areas felt a bit dated, especially the carpets. a great spot for value and comfort.

Friendly staff, dated decor
The staff were incredibly welcoming, helping me feel at home right from check-in. I enjoyed a delicious meal in the Bistro, which was a great value.
The decor and furnishings are quite tired, with threadbare carpets and limited electrical outlets. The room's maintenance left some areas needing attention.

the exterior was dreadful, looked abandoned. my room had a nasty smell, like cat wee, and frankly, is a simple fix! i would have expected a complimentary upgrade after such a terrible experience, but clearly, that was too much to ask for. i almost left a nice review—just couldn't deal with all this nonsense.

Just a top selection for a brief stopover in Duns with good price-value balance. Staff were incredibly friendly and made sure I had everything I needed, even checking in frequently. Avoid Room 8 if you prefer quiet nights.

Charming stay with a warm atmosphere
We had a great experience during our stay. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive, assisting us with local recommendations and ensuring our comfort. The location was perfect, allowing easy access to nearby attractions, and the meals were of a great standard, especially the hearty breakfast that set us up for the day. One thing to note is that the communal areas could use a bit of an update.

The room I stayed in was clean and quiet, offering a great view of the square, which made for a pleasant atmosphere. The meal I had at the Bistro was quickly served and delicious, providing solid value for money.
The exterior could use a fresh coat of paint, and the presence of weeds in the gutters gives off a neglectful vibe. Inside, the carpets were often threadbare, and the overall decor felt quite dated. the bathrooms, in particular, needed attention with some signs of wear, like subpar silicone around the bathtub. Finding power outlets was frustrating, with only a few available at low levels, making it challenging to plug in devices comfortably.
